When does the domain expire, and where is it registered?

See the expiry date, registrar, nameservers and transfer lock of generic domains (.com, .net, .org…).

Do I need clientTransferProhibited?

Yes. It blocks moving the domain to another registrar until the owner unlocks it, which protects against hijacking.

Does the site keep working after expiry?

No. A few days after expiry the website and email stop. After the redemption period anyone can register it. Renew at least 30 days ahead.

Why is the owner hidden?

Most registrars redact personal data under privacy rules, so WHOIS only shows the registrar and dates.
